In the reply box, I always press enter 2 times to place a little space between the quote I want to include. The quote looks ‘indented’ for me and what I am entering now goes back to the far left margin

If you just click the very bottom left in the edit box so the carrot (cursor) is displayed there your comment will not be in the quote box. No need to push enter unless you want more space between.

I might of got the hang of this …But will I remeber… Ha!
Thanks

looks like it worked for you

Another thing is if you don’t want big spaces between text by hitting ‘enter’

Like that, you can push ‘shift enter’ once…
or twice…

to make it all closer together.

I think ‘enter’ on this editor should achieve what ‘shift enter’ does.
It is a HTML thing that has always been annoying for the basic user.
It tends to space everyone’s comments out more than needed.

Andrew

Andrew is correct. HTML treats ENTER as a Paragraph Break, and Shift Enter as a Line Break. Paragraph Breaks add additional space.

1 [ENTER]

2 [Shift Enter]

I don’t use the enter key, I use the mouse, and click a line below the wording in the quote…

When replying to a quote, put you cursor on the next line below the quoted text and click on the highlighted QUOTE ICON at the right end of the editor menu at the top of the reply box to stop quoting. Then your new text won’t be in a quote box.
