Replacment motor question

I’ve got these 5 NW2 cow/calf units that I run all the time and like…a lot. But I’ve begun to think that it might be nice to remotor them with a high quality motor… Pittman as an example. Anyone out there bother to do that?

Just looking at the NWSL pages a Pittman that’s 30mm x 60mm dbl shaft is $100… so it would cost $200 just to do one loco…almost the cost of just buying new locos…but then they’d would just run the same as thye ones I have

Just wondering…

The problem is you cant buy them any more USA NW-2 are a very sought after loco, They are like MTH…They dont build them any more…

No but I can always get replacement motor blocks. Been there and done that

Larry,

look on Ebay. there are always Pittman motors and gearheads avalible, and they usually go cheep. may have to look for a few weeks to find the one you want

Larry,

Check the bachmann LS parts, they have the pittman motor from the k27 listed at $50.
