…To score cheap figures and scenery!
Time to check the big box stores, toy stores and farm supply places for diecast vehicles.
If you are indoors, it’s time to check the discount stores for little artificial trees.
And best of all, it’s time to raid the Lemax displays for affordable figures!!! Look at Michael’s craft stores, Lowes, and KMart. If you’re in Western PA, try Pool City and Kraynaks. Big upside -They are less than 1/2 the cost of “railroad” figures, and there are dozens of different ones. Downside, the resin they use is brittle and the paints aren’t UV stable… Just choose carefully, some are 1/29-ish, and others 1/24… quick tip: Got a dollar in your pocket? US currency bills are are 2.61 inches wide and 6.14 long. How about a credit card? They are 2 1/8" high and 3 3/8" inches wide. Useless trivia? A dollar folded in half is 6 feet in 1:24. The other dimension is pretty close to the height of a figure in 1:29. That credit card is 5’ 8" wide in 1:20… And folks won’t wonder if you’re senile when you take them out of your pocket.
