Reichsbahn- era's?

Hi guys. A question for those of you into european rails.

I’m looking at models from Brawa, Piko and the like. Something german would be nice. I’m wondering about the term “era” in the description. i.e. era I, or era II, or era III, etc. Does this designate years built, or years run? Steam is what I’m interested in.
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

Hi Mike,

Here’s the scoop: The eras overlap to a certain degree but FWIW

Era I : first trains - 1920/25
Era II: 1920 - 1945/50
Era III: 1945 - 1965/70
Era IV: 1965 - 1985/90
Era V: 1985 - present

Thanks HJ, this will be very helpful. I’m attempting to make an educational visual aid about WWII and the Reichsbahn “death camp trains”. I think a working model of one of the steam locomotives pulling several “cattle cars” filled with people along with photographs and printed documentation will help today’s generation realize the horrors of the past and to learn that it must not be forgotten, lest history repeat itself.

I think that I've just lost my sense of fun.

You, sir, are sick.

Do you have even the slightest sense of what you have just written?

On Christmas Eve?

I’m very tempted to repost your loathsome request on every forum I can think of.

PS - I’m pretty sure we’ve had this topic come up before - wasn’t the first time enough?
