That’ll look great on the bridge!

Or this one, a little cleaner…

I’ll print them both and then decide.

Jon the second is a little more clear but I like the look of the first one. Gives a more weathered looked.

Why isn't the HOSE on the HOSE reel?
That might be because the hose reel is now holding up the cluster "F" of wires ;)

The bridge is coming out very nice, Jon.
I’d go with the “clear” builder’s plate. It will weather enough on it’s own outdoors.
Ralph

I agree with Ralph on the clear bridge plate, that is if you don’t weather the bridge to match the plate. Your bridge looked in good shape in the last photo and the manufacturer’s plate should look the same.

I would agree with Ric & Ralph, however, at my age, I don’t want to start on brand new things…

I’m thinking that might be the one I decide on too. I do plan on weathering the girder after it’s lettered. This prototype picture is about the level of weathering I’m going for…

Interestingly, the heavily rusted plate is from this bridge !

Looks like most of the rust on that plate came from behind, not from above

… and it looks like someone tried to liberate the plate from the bridge…

Or after 100 years the attachment just failed.

Great looking bridge Jon. I also like your track gauges. I have made several out of Oak or Maple hardwood on my table saw and they work just fine.

Chuck

Jon, I would agree except the condition of the remaining rivet is way to good for normal deterioration. It would not be the first to be ‘liberated’ and is sure won’t be the last.

Jon,
What did you use for glueing the plastruct to the Aluminum or for the laminating?

For both I used Locktite 2-Part Epoxy from Lowes.

Today Scott at work cut the lettering and printed some builder’s plates on vinyl. The lettering will be a job to install, but should look great when done. The “clear” builder’s plate is much harder to read when sized down to one inch wide. The rusty one seems to have more depth when printed small so it will probably be my choice.

Here’s an update. Great weather today inspired me to finalize the mounting of the new bridge. New since the last set of pictures is the lettering. I still need to do some light weathering of the girder, but the bridge is now operational.

LOOKS GREAT!

I like it!

Agreed, looks Great John, Builders plate is a nice touch.

Nick.

Nice bridge! I like your solution for track gauges, too.
