Regner RhB Mallet

As an interim solution between the Moguls and the eventual Consolidations RhB ordered some Mallets.

Regner presented a live steam model of No. 25 at the Nürnberg Fair

My friend Friedhelm W. thought I needed one for the garden. Sorry, way out of my league in several respects.

Very neat Prototype HJ. That would be a nice league to be in. I’m guessing that copper tube below the smoke box delivers the exhaust steam. Odd that they would leave this exposed. Is there a bit of the detail missing? Pictures I found show a tube there but much larger diameter. Very sharp looking other wise.

That is an interesting engine!!!

Gonna get one? I want to see it go!!! Please?

What gauge would the prototype be?

The proto was/is Meter gauge. Without even having seen the price I know “I don’t need one”

The Rhaetian Railway started electrifying (11’000VAC) as early as 1912, WW1 caused a real coal shortage - Switzerland had only very marginal coal deposits and depended on imports - accelerating the electrification. The steamers were put of for sale and the proceeds used to buy more electrics.

PS RhB steamers ended up in Brasil, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Spain and Thailand.

Thats a neat looking engine. I cant wait till my Regner Class A climax comes in. Hopefully this month.

Here’s a link to a site that lists all the nitty-gritty stuff (in German), however what counts is this

Best.Nr. 23800 Bausatz 3.390,00 €

at todays rate that’s US$3830.70 for the kit!
