The weather was more tolerable today 26F degrees. Felt like a heat wave. I tested out the Otto. I did a test run on the micro layout and it ran perfect around the 30inch dia curves.
Wow Thanks Shawn. what a great video. Thanks;)
Nice video, shawn… Who’d a thunk, a steam powered boxcar…
Andy lol… I think you need one
That’s a neat little engine. Good video too.
We got a Roku-3 as part of our Christmas TV buy. It gets Youtube. It was fun to watch your video on the big screen with surround sound. Now you need to get an HD camera so I can see your RR full screen
Thanks Jon. An HD camera is on my list. Hmmmm my birthday is coming up. Might have to hint to my wife. Any recommendations for something small? (shut up Rooster)
Shawn,
I like the slow speed operation of your Otto!
I don’t know much at all about video recorders (are they still called Cam-Corders ?) There are some small ones with so-so lenses around for under $100. I’ve been using an Aiptek HD rescued from the trash at work. It works OK. Biggest problem is that the lens angles up almost 20 degrees when mounted with the tripod mount…
This IS NOT a high quality camera. it shoots in 720P, has a movable view screen, and was FREE (except for an 8GB memory card) Those three features brought it to the top of my list :]
Jon, why not just make a wedge out of wood? Mount a stud into it on one surface, and glue a nut that fits yout tripod on the other surface. Then you could have it level or even point down, or less up.(?)
Basically what I did Lou. I mount the camera on a 1/2" piece of PVC that is cut to fit inside an Aristo Classic gondola. I put the camera mount on the slope sheet then shim to get the angle I want.
