I ordered a Regner Lumber Jack last night from The Train Department. They were sent an invoice so I should have it in 2-3 weeks. I’ve been out of live steam for awhile. When I realized I could get this geared loco I thought that it will be perfect for my small track. Anybody running one of these? Thanks in advance.
Hi Robert, never heard of one. I had to look it up after your posting.
Looks like a powerful engine. I had not remembered the Regner line.
Yup, my pal broos over here runs one that he built from the kit. It is a mighty hauler, and no mistake, due to the highly-geared twin-cylinder wiggler it has for an engine.
Hope you’ve also ordered the gas valve adaptor that enable you to fill it from the regular gas cans - Regner seem to have gone their own way with this one and re-invented the wheel to no useful purpose.

Robert, also, don’t get discouraged by the first few runs of the motor, you didn’t make any assembly mistakes. The wiggler will break in after about 3 or 4 runs and become one of the best runners in your roundhouse. The more you run it the better it runs. if you have any ?? or concerns there is a new forum just for Regner followers that will be very helpful, and Jason is most knowledgable. ENJOY.

I did order a self venting valve for the loco… An adapter will be ordered also. I have a lot of normal cans of gas in stock.

I may break in on air for awhile if I can make that connection with silicon tubing.
I’ve read that it is rc ready in the description. I am an old time rc guy and will be building the kit. Anyone know of an rc installation in this loco? Thanks.
I just got one a few months ago. I love it. Make sure you get the water top off thing so you can refill the boiler (the water runs out before the gas) The summerland chuffer makes a difference. You can add RC but being its geared its not really needed. I plan on making a video as soon as soon as the spring flowers start to come up. Maybe another month. Garden Rail had a great article about the Lumberjack and some modifications that were done. If you want me to scan you the aarticle send me an e-mail [email protected]
