Nice viaduct, good thing you built it strong. Crazy birds! Are those woodpeckers ? They sure are BIG
Wow. Deb was telling Martha about those guys. Amazing.
Hi Todd:
Those are Pileated Woodpeckers.

Beautiful bird. But not so nice if they carve out a hole in a favourite backyard tree to eat bugs!
We have a great selection of wild life up here in the North. If only Winter did not last so long …

Yep, got to love the pileated woodpecker!
Nice looking birds. Those are the biggest woodpeckers I’ve ever seen. I hope you don’t have any expensive fish, with that heron around!
Those guys do a great job of getting rid of old tree stumps. Had one in my side yard that a woodpecker completely obliterated in about half a day. I didn’t realize how big they were either till I saw that one close up.
Gee I wonder were they got the idea for this guy???

Cool…I have only seen the pileated 2 times but never in a pair…
They are extremely rare. I saw a pair while fishing in a remote lake about 30 years ago.
Now I have a brainless flicker that loves to hammer on my steel sided barn about 9 PM.
You can hear it for miles!
