Really

Theres a idiot born every day…

And there are other idiots lined up to spend money for that thing.

If the repair is so easy why does not the shop clean the item and replace the warranty parts prior listing (item then would not have its ‘interest’ value’). There is an old saying that a sucker is born every minute. It’s time to upgrade this saying to a sucker born every second!!!

Ah, but the writeup says is HAS been cleaned!
“Unit has been examined and cleaned and is guaranteed complete and is under manufacturer Full Warranty should ANY problems later be found”

What are you talking about that is a PREMO smoke weathering job.

To bad ebay doesn’t have a reverse bid system… Starting at $349, how low will it go before you buy it… Maybe for $3.49 and free shipping

Oh you can get this to go with it as well! http://www.ebay.com/itm/USA-Trains-R22100-G-Scale-GP7-Wisconsin-Southern-753-RARE-One-of-a-KIND-/370630571474?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item564b4db5d2

Boy, that guy…wonder how much other stuff he’s trying to foist off on the motoring public. He’s been watching too many “Pickers” shows.

Notice most that have activity have bids that he has declined. Real curious about what the bids were…

 He’s got a Buddy L for $499.99
I paid $49.99 for mine…and that was too much. It makes a nice prop though

Hartland Big John for $499.99… $137 above straight retail.
Ralph

If nobody buys it, then he will either relist it, maybe change the price, maybe not, or not relist it. Things are worth what people pay for them. Nobody is putting a gun to anyones head to pay these prices.

I should make an offer on it… That I will pay his cab fare to the nearest sanitorium!

Well, the rest of his stuff seems almost normal… almost…

Greg

Now you guys are beginning to see why I think most Ebay sellers are smoking their old Red Boxes in a pipe!

Bob thats true, but the problem is that when every OTHER seller sees prices like this they want a piece of the action and tend to follow suit, resulting in a 70/30 difference between BIN and straight Auction listings, with the BIN prices often well over MSRP. It creates a very hostile environment for buyers like me as I am convinced most all Ebay stores are just greedy hucksters with no clue what their stuff is really going to sell for, I know this because as a seller, who lists starting bids for what I consider is the REAL value, being based on watching what similar items in auction have actually sold for, knows what a buck is worth these days and it ain’t much. I have seen item after item, being offered for low asking bids, go unsold, what often does sell is at such a low starting bid as to not even break even, alot of times it just wont sell, period, despite being something you would consider desirable and at a reasonable price… NO ONE is going to shill out big bucks just because someone THINKS its worth so much, but this is COMMON now among 75% of the Ebay stores now. BIN has been the WORST thing to ever happen to Ebay because it enables stuff like this to become commonplace.

Ahh yes, the free enterprise system at it’s worst. A few phrases come to mind - Caveat Emptor, “there’s no correlation between price and value”, “what the market will bear”, “you can fool some of the people all the time and …”, etc, etc etc. And I agree with Vic, as more and more clueless sellers mimic each other it sets the new standard for this kind of retailing. But, it may also present an opportunity for sellers who are serious about staying in business and perhaps expanding to successfully compete with realistic product pricing and SHIPPING costs.

Its a shame eBay doesn’t charge a “digital dust collector” fee for items that “sit on the shelf” too long.

This makes sense, rather than a free re-list charge add a fee for long-term listings. I would prefer they use "moderators" to clear out the thousands of listings for 'die-cast' and 'doll-house' items. I swear that alone would cut out half the chaff!

ebay is a fantastic place for Buy-it-Now, the vast majority of my trains were acquired that way. Recent purchases;

Bachmann Spectrum Forney NIB…$250.00

Two 21VDC Crest Lithium battery packs NIB…$50.00

Two Revo receivers in package…$50.00 ea.

LGB Santa Fe F7 A and B units…$500.00

The good deals go FAST leaving nothing but the garbage behind, and the appearance there are no deals. To find them you need to check often.

Aristo Mallet $377 used but in good shape.
usa PA-1 A and B Unit $265 for the pair NIB

…I can’t sell a pair of LGB passenger cars for below what the BIN shills ask for them. Had to relist them :frowning: Sometimes I wonder just how big the actual ‘market’ for LS really is these day…I don’t think its anywhere near what it was 6 or 7 years ago.

Wow , thats funny. That would be a good weathering job on a old coal car not one of U.P.'s crack passenger trains. .

What annoys me is the Buy it now function. It defeats the purpose of an AUCTION.
