REAL Allegheny Valley coach and combine pix found!

Up until now, I hadn’t been able to find much in the way of pics of the real AV prior to it’s takeover by the Pennsy. Just these two:

This afternoon, my rail historian friend in Cali was looking for something else in the Delaware archives when he found these amongst the Jackson and Sharp builder’s photos:

Next post I’ll show you some reasons why you might actually care…

Beyond being clean, clear vintage J&S builder’s photos, they were digitalized in fairly high resolution. My buddy was able to retrieve the following detail shots from those original scans… J&S period practice for those of you who like to accurately detail models. Coach #29 - hey! I guessed right on the coach #s, lol!

How’s THAT for cool?.. Since I HAVE a B’mann J&S combine here, I’m almost afraid to ask how much Stan would want for decals of the 61…

Interesting that the coach and combine have different windows.
Cool find by your friend.
Ralph

might have sumptin to do with the coach is from 1872 and the combine 1900?

WOW! Great find.
Our forefathers sure knew how to build with class.
The tiger stripe wood with the glossy finish is really sharp and thats on a B&W picture.
Bet it was sumpen to behold back in it’s day.
As I have said before back in their hay day they kept their equipment sharp.
Remember when you look at an old B&W picture it’s not always as you think it is but most times the pic isn’t as good as it could be with better equipment.
They took care of things better and had more pride in their company than most do now. Too bad we are like that now. No wander the countries in such a state now.

Probably. The coach does look to be a step or two up from the combine. It would be nice to try the window treatment on a B'mann coach. Do you have a link to the original photos? Ralph

Man, those cars are some lookers.

Lawdhavemercy, I've died and gone to heaven :D

Nice pics. I think a “THANK YOU” is in order.

Great links Mik - You should post them over in Reference so they don’t get lost in the sauce.
