I hope the Democrats do win the majorities they are predicting. Time to give someone else a chance. If they screw it up like the Republicans did, then four years from now I will join many of you as an anti-Democrat. The difference being I will also be an anti-Republican, as I will not have forgotten how bad the Republicans have screwed things up.

You know what will be the worst part of that? All the people who have to go see their chiropractor on a regular basis! Why, you ask? It’s from the regular checking if there are any Reds under the bed! Hihihihi!

That joke came up in a slightly different form 25 years ago during an election campaign here.

The incumbent Malcolm Fraser made some comment that because of the Bob Hawke Labour party polices little old ladies would have to hide their money under the bed.
Hawke shot back; There would not be any room under their beds because of the Reds under them.

Hawke won easily.
