Large Scale Central

Re-introduction

Hello all,
After a hiatus of a year and a half I thought I would check back in here and try to add something to your discussions.
For you that might remember me and for you that don’t I model short line and logging railroading in 1:20 scale on a raised table top out doors.

I’m here to learn somemore and hopefully contribute once in a while.
Rick Marty

Welcome Back!

Welcome Rick.
Nice to have you stop back in.
Ralph

welcome back…

Welcome back!

Welcome back? Wasn’t that a song for a TV show back in the 70’s…(where Vinnie Barberino got his start)…??

hello,
yes. i second what tac says.
how should the newer members get to know you, if you don’t post pics? - of your layout that is…

Hey Rick, good to hear from you.

Rick !?!, Rick…!, Now where have I heard that name before???

Didn’t you come up with the idea for the gray conduit as sub-roadbed?

Welcome in!

cale

Thanks for the welcome.

As for pictures I am working on that as we speak. In the mean time here is a You-Tube link to a video done last Summer
on the railroad.

“Rick !?!, Rick…!, Now where have I heard that name before???”
Richard, you should hear what my wife calls me, wait a minute, maybe you have :0=)

“Didn’t you come up with the idea for the gray conduit as sub-roadbed?”
Cale,
No, you must have me confused with some other genius :)=)

Thanks again
Rick

Hey Rick, good to see you “over here”.

From one of the “winers” “over there”. (inside joke)

Rick,
Very nice. Both the video and the RR.
While you’re reading, here is a link to help you embed the video.

Great video of your RR Rick. Tell us more about it, what track you used, your construction methods, etc. Great looking layout!

Hey Rick - Nice video. Al lot of your RR and the Shasta Pacific logo are familiar. I guess I remember you. Not as senile as I thought I was.

Welcome back.

i like that layout. - again?

could it be, that you had parts of your layout published in the past?
specially the tunnel entrance and the bridge with the wrecked loco give me a “deja vú” feeling.

Korm I seem to think I have seen that wrecked loco before as well. A Connie maybe???

Again thanks for the warm re-welcome
to answer a few questions, I have been knocking around the forums for years and most of my attempts at railroading have been posted one place or another.

To get specific;

Gary,
Hi Buddy, glad to see you here.
Yea, guess I’m just a whiner but it had been building for a long time. I have/had been a member of that forum siince the Utah Garden Railroad Club days and enjoyed it very much for a long time. The forum has just seemed to go in a direction that I didn’t care to follow, perhaps someday it will change back and be more on topic and civil. Who knows, maybe it was not the forum but just me getting tired of the same ol-same-ol.

Randy,
Glad you liked the video. It was filmed by my Brother-in-Law at last Summers open house, nobody was as surprised as I was at how well it turned out. I am using all AMS code .250 brass track and am pretty satisfied with the product. As for construction I stole every good idea that Richard Smith ever came up with. I tried to sell the methods but danged if he didn’t have them Patented :)=)

Jon,
You can never be too sure. :)=)

Korm,
Yea, the Tunnel corner and the South Fork Bridge were in build logs “over there” as my Buddy Gary says, Oh, and the loco in the canyon is an old battery Big Hauler.

Thanks for your time.
Rick

I agree with you Rick. One of the folks made a statement that everyone threatens to leave, but never does. I have been dissatisfied with that forum for a few years and it seems like those “true” modelers are slowly drifting away from the site. I have been a member there for almost ten years AND paid for my membership there all that time. Too bad it came to this. Good to see you are here!
