Someone is selling: ART 5450 D C Power Supply with the controller. He claims that it delivers 10 AMP. However, my research indicates only 3.5AMPs. Anyone know if I am correct? I think the controller can handle 10 AMP but the supply is only 3.5. He wants $100 for both. Is this a good deal?
I am only running about 60 Ft of brass track in my yard. I have a mix of LGB and ARisto locos.
Thanks
You are correct: The 5450 power supply’s rated output is 3.5A. The controller (assuming it is a 5401-10) is good for 10A. IMHO, $100 is high for such a small output used unit.
The length of your track has virtually nothing to do with the power requirements. What does count is the current draw of your motive power and other powered equipment. Only having 3.5A available really limits what you can run.

On 60’ of track? Personally I think that would be fine unless we have a very clogged main…
