RCS website has been updated

It has taken quite awhile but at last I can release the updated RCS website.

The main news is all the RCS and EVO speed controllers are now compatible with Phoenix P5 sound.

The whole RCS BASIC series and EVO B series have been changed and now feature modular connections to the P5 + P5T.
The RCS BASIC and EVO B series comprises 3 new speed controllers rated at 30 va, 45 va and 90 va. They start with a competitively priced simple 4 function TX-4 handpiece to go with each speed controller that provides speed control and one sound tiogger function with the P5 only.
Simple plug-in Modular add on components can increase this to speed control and six sound trigger functions when the P5T is added.
The RCS BASIC and EVO B series when combined with a P5 + P5T, will require the soon to be released Phoenix 6904 sound files. The RCS BASIC and EVO B series will be relased in Oct at about the same time as the 6904 sound files should be available.

In the meantime The RCS ELITE-3 and EVO E-3 are available now and can be used as is with the Phoenix 6900 and 6902 sound files. The pdf format instructions at the website have been upgraded to show how to wire in the Phoenix sound systems.

I’ve been waiting on this!

Thanks, Tony.

Tony, will the 6904 sound files have sound files that sound more like the Baguley Drewry and other 2’ industrial/cane locos (ComEng, EW Baldwin etc)?

So, you want eggs in your Holy Water, too, Warren?

El Lobo Loco

No, but the proper sounds for the locomotives I’m constructing would be nice.

My pleasure.

Hi Warren.

As yet there is no specific sound for the Baguley.
The closest Phoenix have is the Plymouth which still sounds too “big” to me.
The next best is the Goose sound.
Brandbright in the UK have a recording of a Gardiner 6 x cylinder oil burner which would be ideal. I hope to persuade them to co operate with Phoenix to bring it to market.

The two P5 triggers can be programmed to trigger either high or low. The 6900 and 6902 files only trigger low on the P5T. The RCS ELITE-3 requires trigger low. Installation requires terminal wiring using supplied Phoenix cables.

The 6904 files are only updates of the already existing files. The 6904 files enable the user to program the input triggers on the P5T to be either high or low. The RCS BASIC requires trigger high. Installation can be plug and socket with the # MOD-CABLE.

BTW. I have permission from Phoenix to make the sound files available at the RCS website. These will be already programmed to RCS recommended settings. They will be in the form of downloadable config files. I will get them done after Phoenix have released all the 6904 versions.

The Plymouth sounds ok to me for a Clyde or a ComEng but not big enough for the larger EM Baldwins. I’ve thought maybe the RDC for those. But what twists my shorts is the horn. Just not appropriate at all.

You use the goose for the BD…how do you get around the Aoogah horn and the very noticeable auto gear shift?

Does anybody make soundsystems for boats?? Most of the rod engines I’ve heard sound just like the cat powered 26’ commercial fishing boat my brother use to run…horn and all.

I can’t offer an opinion as to which sound is best for which diesel.
I’m using the Plymouth because it is the “least worst” for the little Baguley Drewry.

I don’t like the goose sound so have never really used it other than to try it once.
BTW, each sound comes with two different horns.
I have heard the new R/C version Dallee goose sound played over the telephone. Sounds pretty good to me.

Perhaps the R/C boat sites would be forthcoming for boat sounds.

Warren,

Maybe you can get something from “Das Boot.” It’s worth a thought.

A little too closed mouthed or tight lipped to be our TOC.

And too clean shaven.
