RCS introduces new Deltang TX20 R/C

The TX20 is a DSM2 5 channel TX handpiece that has been desgned by Deltang R/C in the UK to be compatible with my own RCS battery powered ESC’s.

This new TX fulfills my desire to have a small handheld TX that can be used one handed and still provide superb loco control.
The TX20 has a switch for direction change and a 256 step digital proprtional speed control by a 270º knob instead of the regular 90º provided by stick control on a regular stick type 2.4 GHz TX.
There are 2 pushbutton sound triggers and a pushbutton control of a servo for a mechanical feature such as a Kadee uncoupler.
The TX20 can be used with any RCS ESC that uses operating program AV1. It can also be used with our EVO ESC’s and any centre off ESC when used with DSM2 compatible RX’s.

You can bind as many ESC’s as you like to a TX20. Run locos one at a time or gang together for MU operation.

Price is reasonable and to showcase the TX20 I have an introductory offer at the website.

Very interesting. Railboss compatible I assume? What RX is used - Spektrum 2.4’s OK?

Hi Jon.
It has not been tested with Rail Boss but in theory it should work just fine. Del was able to answer some tech questions when DELTANG R/C was designing it.

Yes it is DSM2 compatible. I only supply the legal Chinese clone RX’s from Orange etc.

Soon, Deltang will be the source of a special smaller lower output combined RX - ESC, especially for Bachmann Thomas and L’iL Hauler trains.

Tony,

Great product - I always liked the Elite “shirt-pocket” TX; still have one driving my RYM Mikado.

I have no interest in using a big aircraft TX for my sparkies. But can I use the TX20 for my live steamers? Any detailed info what the various RX channels do when you twiddle the knobs?

Thanks Pete.
No, the TX20 cannot be used with live steamers. Only because the direction change switch is spring loaded centre OFF.
Deltang also make a different TX that uses an ordinary DPDT switch that would be more practical to use.
Focus has been on getting this up to speed and the Live Steam version will follow along.

Well then, I’d be happy to test and confirm that for you!

Seriously; If I were to order one and by chance it didn’t work with my Railboss, would you take it back?

BTW - You forgot a link to your website: http://www.rcs-rc.com/

Hi Jon.
Yes, absolutely I would take it back.
Thanks for the link.
Actually the upside down log is a clickable link.

“Actually the upside down log is a clickable link.”

I missed that. Good thing your banner ad was displayed at the time :]

I will be reading up on this product tonight. Thanks!

Jon - Just a heads up. You will have to turn Tony’s documentation upside down to make it readable.

I would appreciate feedback on the results of your tests with this transmitter, as I have not tried it yet.

The Deltang TX20 has been upgraded.

Easy one handed operation.

Separate 9 volt battery compartment.

It is a bit bigger than the original version but will still fit in trouser pockets. A belt clip will be available soon.

Tony, that is a huge improvement over the original. Looks nice. But what does the “Dual Mode” refer to?

Thanks Del.

The dual mode refers to the fact the speed control knob has a centre detente so that it is compatible with centre off ESC’s as well as the program you designed for me.

Deltang will soon have a centre off ESC that can handle 3 amps. I will be using them for low cost installations in L’il Big Haulers and Thomas where all the bells and whistles are not needed.

Once they are up and running I will start testing their ultra small combined RX - ESC’s for 0n30" battery operation.
