RC cars

My other hobby is RC cars. This is my current project. It’s a Traxxas Stampede 2 wheel drive truck. In it’s current state it will do 35 mph and is easily able to land a 5 foot jump. When I’m done with it it’ll be able to clear 50 mph.

It has full suspension including the oil filed shocks.

COOL. is it a FORD?

I used to race the on-road cars. It was a great hobby.

It’s a generic body but it really does resemble the ford Raptor.

I got hooked on RC back with the OLD Tamiya Ford F150 styleside. That truck was a beast with cast parts and a literal tupperware box to house the electronics and battery in. When I got out I’d had well over 50 different cars mostly Tamiya, Bolink, and Losi but there were other ones in there from time to time as well. Traxxas & HPI come to mind. All electric powered. As I was getting out was when nitro powered was getting to be “fuel n run” My favorite cars were the Losi 2 wheel drive and the HPI 4 wheel drive trucks. Fun stuff! I do miss them from time to time.

Back in WV during the early 80s, I raced 1:12th scale cars on blacktop. I was spending $50.00 a week on tires alone while racing on Wed nites. We tried racing in dirt with 1:10th scale Bolink cars of the times. With open gearing, they just weren’t suited for dirt. In the winter time we raced in doors using sponge tires covered with silicone rubber.

Welcome Randy,
Glad you found your way over here and hope you drop in from time to time.
I think if I wasn’t already up to my a** in trains, I’d probably do RC cars

Upgraded the truck. New tires and wheels, motor and ESC, shocks, springs, bearings all around. Up to 43 mph. Was drag racing cars off the traffic light the other day.
