Rattle Can Paint Job

At my fall steamup I was presented with an AML -0-6-0 that someone wanted to sell, so I ran it. Here’s the funny part this little engine pulled more cars around my RR with the grades than my $7000 Aster Berkshire(recently sold). Anyway… $550 so I bought it. Then I traded an F3 ABA set for an almost new one… because my 4 year old grandaughter likes running it. Washed number one in acetone, spayed the white lettering areas with Krylon white primer, added 1/2" vinyl letters from the hardware store, sprayed more white to seal the lettering edges, then sprayed grey/black Hi temp stove paint over the whole thing(Rustoleum), peeled off the lettering and …there you have it. I had peviously added rc to the throttle and Jbar. Servos are between the frame out of sight. Battery, RX, switch in the back of the tender. Added a Summerlands chuff pipe I got from SilverState. Bottom line is I love this thing. A classic case of “less is more” Who knew  Stock

Painted…Cab is not mounted…ergo crooked.

Looks great Larry.

Your paint job looks great, Larry. Just don’t go paintin’ on no viaducts, overpasses and stuff.

Now that , really looks like the steam locomotives that I remember seeing .

I paint viaducts and stuff all the time… here’s one I painted
