Randomly getting Logged off?

Anyone else getting randomly logged of LSC? I’m using FF, and every once in a while I open my favorites to LSC, and it shows that I’m not logged in, but yet 30-60min. ago when I checked the forum I was still logged in?

I’m wondering if it’s a LSC software glitch or a FF glitch? I don’t have it happen on any other sites.

Craig

Yea, happens to me once in a while I use Google Chrome.

Same here…

From time to time, it happens.

Have you cleared your browsers cookies?

If you do a “clear all cookies” you’ll have to log in again for ANY site.

Some browsers will allow you to edit your cookies.

This will also confuse some sites that look at your cookies and then put up related advertisements.

Eg. browse for color printers. your next set of ads may have offers for similar printers!

I’ve never cleared my cookies, so I don’t think that’s the problem. But since a few others have reported it, it sounds like a minor glitch in the LSC software. No big deal, was just more curious to see if others were having the same problem. Problem shows up with Firefox and Chrome, so the common denominator is LSC.

Question answered! BTW I use Ad Block plus, and Dont Track Me as add-ins to FF so I don’t worry about ads at all.

Happens on the Ipad and Safari too.

It is happening to me as well, using Firefox. I never log off, nor clear cookies.

Heck, sometimes it happens when I go from one screen to the next.

Yup - happens quite randomly to me, but quite often too.

Jon,

I must be lucky. I use FF 24.0, Win XP, and Comcast and it never happens to me!

I wonder if this is on Bob’s “to do someday list”? Not that it really effects the functionality of the site at all.

Yep, on FF and happens every time I turn off the laptop or break or change the internet connection. Having been in our camper a lot this summer and on many different internet connections. I just accepted it as part of the point of what happens by moving around.

For you guys that leave your computer logged on to LSC all the time and your computer up and always running, that might not be a reason. So, I don’t know. Do what I do, ask Jon.

I don’t have a clue what causes it. I just accept it and move on. My home machine is on 24/7 and work #1 24/5, work #2 24/7. It happens on all of them, but none of them since this thread opened.

I am on FF 24 as well.

I am guessing it is a security feature of the software. If you don’t access the site in “X” amount of hours or days, it logs you off.
Happens to me here, as well as my Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoomail accounts.
If I access them frequently, I’m not automatically logged off.

See. I ask Jon, he talks with Ralph. They figure it out. Problem resolved. Wonder if they could help out in Washington? Shutdown? Nevermind.

I’m not sure if Ralph’s explanation works. In my example I’ll be logged in, check the site for new threads, etc than go off and read the newspaper online (or heaven forbid a different train forum!) come back to LSC and I’m logged off in less than a half hour time span.

Left confuser plugged in, on and LSC connected to FireFox overnight. Stilled logged on.

How long were you logged in prior?
It probably drops a “cookie” with an expiration date.
If you were only logged in a short time, it probably is a software “bug”
