I have my layout about 40 inches above ground as running live steam almost demands that for over the years the joints just don’t bend like they used to long ago. I sunk pressure treated 4x4’s into the ground about 8 ft apart except where I ran into a tree root and use 2x4 for stringers. I use old house siding for the table top and cover with rolled grey roofing. Not to shabby… About 300 ft around through trees and bushes.
