For all you southwestern folks, I stumbled across a model railroad store in of all places, Tombstone, Arizona. While on a trip through southern Arizona recently, we stopped at Tombstone after several years of not having visited. Tombstone is what it is, but a nice place to get out of the RV and stretch the legs. While wandering along the main street, I stumbled across a small shop called the “Western Edge of Tombstone”. What a surprise. it’s packed with large scale inventory from Aristo (yes, Aristo), USA, LGB and Bachmann. The owner also customizes Bachmann locos, and installs sound. He also has some HO and O equipment. The owner’s name is David Bales. A very friendly fellow and willing to talk at length about trains…of course. He indicated that he does a brisk online and mail order business other than just his store front. Some of you in the southwest may already be aware of him, but for those in New Mexico, which is largely train shop starved, it was a delightful surprise. I’m thinking about swapping C-19’s with him as he has one I like and he wants the version I have. Anyway, for those that would like to explore what he has to offer, the following information might be helpful:
Western Edge of Tombstone
POB 1625
Tombstone, AZ 85638

He may have a website, but I’ve not looked for it yet. Worth a visit if you are in that neck of the woods.
