This past weekend, at the “American Invasion 2005” of the OVGRS, I got to see RailOp from the train crew point. The OVGRS, and specifically, Doug Matheson, spent several hours setting it up (putting in industries, cars, locations, etc). This has ended up saving them several hours each week in set-up time. Now, all they have to do is print out a car location sheet, bring the cars out of the shed and place them in their locations. Then, they print out switchlists for each train, and hand them off to the crews. When the crew finishes running their train, the cars are picked up again, and stored. The next time a car location sheet is printed, the cars are now shown in their new location.
Neat stuff. Anyone have any further reviews of RailOp, or opinions on other switchlist software?
