After reading a write up in TRAINS about traveling on The Canadian during the winter, I’m booking a three day trip this month. Kamloops, BC to Jasper, AB and return. Low season, few people and plenty of snow. That should make for some different video.
HJ, I’ll be looking foreword to the daily pics, and the video feed along the way.
Dave,
I’ll see how that works out; video will need to wait 'til I get back, but I could upload pictures if I take one of the tablets along.
Booked the train and the hotel — close to Jasper station/yard. The schedule gives me plenty of time at Jasper and as long as CN Police “behaves” it could be interesting.
I’m back from my 72 hours of fun in the snow. By far not as immersed as some of the people got out on the East Coast, however hanging out for hours in the cold was a different experience.
Didn’t take any of the WiFi stuff, plenty of other things to do back at the hotel, including watching some cliff hanger competitions from the Olympics.
Video coming up, but it will take some time to get it all massaged. Last stuff I shot last night in the dome car. The train was four and a half hours late getting into Jasper, two hours + late when I got off at Kamloops (440 km later), i.e. CN got there act together and had The Canadian rolling.

After arriving in Jasper I hung around the station waiting for the train to leave at 17:30MT hoping that the sun wouldn’t exit prior to that. Oh well … Between the clouds and the mountain ridge it was not to be.
