Did a little train watching with Hollywood this past weekend. Found a neat new spot to hit and I wanted to try my hand at shooting some video. All these clips were shot with in 90 minutes so about 1 train every 10 to 15 minutes and a good variety as well . This was kinda my first real railfanning video attempt and I learned a lot! Either way it was fun and a good bit of action in a short time.
Looks like you had a good day. I’ll have to get out there while the weather is still good. I live in Fort Washington
Good videos, thanks for sharing. I’m headed down to Folkston GA tomorrow for some train watching myself.
Ah, the Folkston Funnel, used to pass by there on my way from Waycross, GA to Gainesville FL. Never had a chance to stop there, but I’ve heard it’s an interesting place. So is Waycross for that matter.
Hey Dave, where were those videos taken? I know where the old Pennsy line runs, but not the old Reading line.
Cool Vids cuz! That coal train in the last vid really picked up some speed!
Cool. Nice to see one crew gave you a little horn action(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)
I’m jealous. This evening I saw a bit of blue sky for the first time in like 2 weeks.
Didn’t last long. Rain again tomorrow.

There used to be alot of action on the Trenton Cutoff when it was still double tracked and electrified, where it crosses County Line Road, in Huntingdon Valley, Pa. Many time I would pull into the lot off of County Line and wait for a train. It never took too long before something showed up. Always pulled by GG1s or E44s. Most of the time the consists were made up of all sorts of freight carriers.
I live about two miles away from the Trenton Cutoff as it passes by Fort Washington. I can hear every train that goes by, mostly due to the fact that the tracks are on my side of the ridge that runs along the Turnpike. Almost all of the trains run at night. On warm summer nights, laying in bed, I can hear the diesel rumble from a faint beginning to a rather loud rumble, then fade away, leaving only the wheels of the freight cars to finish out the chorus.
It’s a soothing sound… . . . . . . . . . . . .

That may be.
However you did call me many other things that day which can be “hard” on ones feelings! Words which I cannot repeat here.
This isn’t even the second page!
We don’t get to see unit trains of gons out here. What are they hauling?

Honestly that’s the first I have seen that many gondolas in a lash up like that other than a MOW train. Pretty sure they were empties just from the hollow sound they made. Not sure where they were headed either but there are many possibilities considering the amount of large scrap yards and a large steel mill close buy. The motive power seemed excessive as well but I suppose there are a few reasons for that as well.
As Hollywood says in the video “they are some abused cars” and that they were!
