January was a write off, the weather and being under the weather. Yesterday’s clips are in the works. Highlight of the day: two trains and a helicopter all in the same shot. The helicopter was retrieving “some stuff” from the river. All this just upriver from Lytton in the Thompson Canyon. Videos to follow.

I think this is called a “tease.”
Call it whatever,
Nice :] Sure is noisy. Is that train brakes making all that humming racket ?
There is the noise from the trains, the noise from the road and the noise from the chopper. And the sound bounces off the canyon walls.
@ Jon
I finally tried that share button and copied that URL. It was that www that screwed things up. Very annoying when Vimeo changes the routine and what worked for years just doesn’t work now. GRRRRRRR
Thanks for the help!
Late in the afternoon when that coal train finally reached the Fraser Canyon the first good spot would be Cisco Bridge.

Good location to count the cars.
Last spot for the day was Jackass Summit, the coal train was slowing down again. I waited a while at Boston Bar, but since the light was fading and the train was still a no show it was time to head home.
Never got the real McCoy on what was the delay with the train other than they “got scanned” somewhere East of Spences Bridge and it was stop and go the rest of the way. Could have been a hot box that needed to be cooled down at every second passing siding … or some such.

Since I was already at Boston Bar I decided to carry on to Hope, get something to eat and then take the freeway over the mountains. The snow banks left and right were very impressive!
After a sequence of CN 2308 West limping down the canyon an eastbound CP sulphur empty showed up.
Engineer blew the horn and clanged the bell, but the sound is muffled because he was by the “sweet spot” of the shotgun mic. Can’t have it all, eh!
Arrrrgh changing settings in Vimeo using the OPERA browser may or may not take Arrrrgh!
That Cisco Bridge location is awesome. It almost looks like a model :]
Doesn’t it!?!
A guy just up the road (40 miles) built an HO diorama of that bridge arrangement. The CN Line swings from the west shore to the east on the Cisco bridge and the CP line also from the west shore to the east on a lower level bridge.

Really nifty! Two years ago the ties on the high bridge burned, what a mess that was!
The local mixed manifest was doing some switching at Spences Bridge. Cleverly hidden behind their train which they left on the track beside the road. Ah well … I could listen to every move on the scanner, perhaps I should have recorded that.

Funny scenery with the sagebrush in the snow.
