too close to opening day at Tweetsie for us…Dang! cale

Cale, Have you been to the Spencer shops? Ralph

Negative, we keep meaning to go, but life gets in the way! cale

Cale, I’m sure you would really enjoy it. It’s close enough for a day trip. Unless there is an event, like Rail Days, there is no admission charge. For $10 you can ride in the cab of a locomotive. I think it is $5.00 to ride in the passenger cars. And, of course, a lot of really cool old trains and train equipment to see. Ralphhttp://

That's probably the Flagg Coal 0-4-0. It gets around ... spent a few days at Bonsal recently.

Buffalo Creek and Gauley #4? That’s a new one on me.

Yep…Old Slobberface she was known on the BC&G and was prolly the only NEW loco they ever owned…she was built for a line in Mexico and ended up gettting diverted. The BC&G had the distiction of being the last 100% steam railroad East of the Mississippi in Common Carrier Service.

Purple has always been my fav color…my bedroom as a child was purple…my bedroom as a newlywed was purple, and has been again since that day…my first Harley was “Concord Purple Pearl”…very close to the ACL colors…all that to say this…if I were to model diesel passenger service, it’d be the ACL for more than the obvious reasons living here in SC!

Ralph It slows on the week ends but thre are still some It appears around 4:30pm to mabe arround 7:00pm
being the best time I have seen up to 5 trains in that time frame on week days but there other times in the day I havent really tryed to keep up with any order as to when.

Ed

Ed,
Thanks for the info. I’ve been meaning to take pictures up there for a while now.

Cale,
Glad you enjoyed the picture.I hope you get a chance to see it in person. If I ever get track down large enough to run the bigger diesels I’ll be looking for a ACL consist!
Ralph

Rail Days this weekend. I’ll be there Saturday. The weather is supposed to be a little better than Sunday.
Ralph

Here are a few pictures from Rail Days on Saturday. The 604 here in the first picture is far from finished. The Shay is parked in the Roundhouse. They have not started working on it yet.

The first picture from my post yesterday shows the 604. Still a lot of work to do. The shay is in the roundhouse but they haven’t started work on it yet. I took a few pictures but they turned out to dark. I will see if I can fix them. Ralphhttp://

Well unfortunately at some point early on my camera lens was smudged and most of my pictures are not too good. Live and learn! Ralph

If I had space for a speeder, I think I could swing it…well, if I didn’t have the camper too…maybe one day!

Looks like it was a great time! them ole Southern Locos were some Beauties (ACL as Well)!

cale

Found a few more usable pictures. Ralphhttp://

What you’ll need to do Cale is upgrade that camper to a toy hauler, put some wooden rail in the garage and on the gate, then modify the ramp to fit over over the tracks and you can drive right out
