R.I.P. Mark "The Bird" Fidrych

Anyone who followed baseball in the mid 70’s should remember Mark "The Bird " Fidrych.
Although his career was very short, it was also very memorable.
Died today in an accident at his farm in Mass.

Bummer. I remember him and his career well.

Jon.

Boy, when he was pitching in '76 Tiger Stadium would be jammed to the rafters! Shame he had such a short career and even a shorter life.

He sure did pack the stadium. Part of the reason his career was so short............they worked him hard. I think he pitched something like 26 complete games in 1976. Including two back to back 11 inning games. He was money in the bank and Ralph Houk kept him on the field as much as possible. Ralph
