I have never seen this manufacturer before:
Guessing 1:32, but no clue, on ebay auction 332136876463
30" long sounds about right, 80 scale feet in 1:32…

Terrific bottom detail!
The auction I looked at said they were gauge 1.
Interesting. They look a little like my Aristo streamliners without any underside detail and simpler trucks. Side and roof fluting look close. Not familiar with the name either.
Neither am I , but I have been seeing them for auction off and on for a while now. I would hate to spend them money for one, and find out they are actually 1:32nd scale. So I haven’t bid on any of them.
Pretty darn sure they are 1:32…
Ahh… there were more to the set, sold off:
Older thread about them, with their origin:
http://forums.mylargescale.com/29-beginner-s-forum/13484-dehanes-g-scale-trains.html
The scale was never actually nailed down in that thread…they are either 1/24 or 1/32. 1/24 seems more likely. And, they probably are not a prototypical length, they are likely delibrately short.
Scot
Scot, the first post indicates they are 30" long, exactly 80 scale feet in 1:32.
Thanks for the link, now I know they are DeHanes, I know they are 1:32. DeHanes made scale length ones and shorter ones, in post #17 Jerry Barnes confirms the 2 different lengths that were available and the scale.
Thanks for finding the link, I’m pretty familiar with the DeHanes stuff, had forgotten, I actually quoted a picture that had the writing on the box in my posts on that thread.
So the pictures over there are the short ones. I do remember the discussion now, and the picture of the box end that showed the check boxes for the 2 different lengths. Unfortunately that ebay picture is gone.
Jerry Barnes got them, but I think he got the shorties. Clearly the other dimensions did not change, i.e. they were all one scale, just the short or full length.
Thanks for finding that one Scot, had forgotten it…
Greg
Greg,
From this photo it looks like they made both standard and gauge one(1/32). 26" and 30" cars.

Thanks Paul, that picture is actually in the MLS thread in the link above.
Looking at the pictures of the box ends seems to tell the whole story.
Thanks!
Greg
Not a bad looking car. Bottom detail is void but who looks at the bottoms when they are running on the track.
Devon, yes, but it would be nice to have something dangling below the car. Some of us do notice that stuff, even as the car is rolling by on the track.
My eyes are up here!(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
They are 1/24 scale, or maybe 1/29, for sure not 1/32.
Wow, so the 30" cars scale to 60’, and the shorter cars 26" scale to 52 foot? Ouch.
Do you have any pictures of them with a locomotive we are familiar with?
Glad you came in Jerry, I noticed that you did not come back to that MLS thread after you received the cars.
(and did you get the 30" ones or the 26" ones?)
Do you have any width and height from railhead measurements?
Greg
A rough estimate basing the size of the car on the gauge of the wheels (as measured in Photoshop) and presuming a length of 26" puts the car at right about 10’ x 70’ in 1:32.

30" car Greg. I cut it down some and put on different trucks to get it down to MTH height, don’t recall what it was at that time. Ripped out the dome interior and put in some seats and figures and some seats in the empty space below.
If you get a chance Jerry, could you measure the width at least?
Did you cut down the sides, or just lower the chassis/trucks?
Thanks, Greg

Not getting in the middle of this civilized debate nor am I an expert on modeling this type of equipment. However I will add that the Aristo Streamliner cars are way short for the standard 1:1 streamliner. The smoothsides are also a bit short as well at 27". However they can play nice with other stuff if done correctly.
I personally would rather know the height of the car off the rail head as opposed to the width. Considering Jerry modded his to blend in with MTH stuff I’m gonna say they are definitely not 1:24.
SCALE matters not to me it’s how to blend them in. Most of the manufactured stuff out there is not really true to scale with the exception of the RO cars as he tends to make them darn close. (not familiar with the MTH stuff so I cannot speak for their product)
What difference does it make anyway? Lionel 027 has a 3rd rail but guys still love them?
Okay, here are some pictures. Car is 29.5" long, 30" with the ends. 4 1/8" wide. You can see I raised the floor 1/2" to get the trucks up under some to match the MTH size. I did cut about 1/2" off the bottom of the extruded aluminum. Hard stuff! Not pictures for rivet counters, but it looks fine from my deck 20’ away as it goes by. I’m happy with it. I did make a dome for a MTH UP set I have. Used a USA dome part I cut down to fit.
