Question on having control boards outside

As I get closer to getting everything hooked up, I started thinking about the control boards and being outside. I’m using RC but is really the same issue with any control system except for straight track DC. Can these pc boards for controlling the switches, directional LEDs and various lights/animations be mounted outside? Obviously they would be mounted in a weather box but since there are wires going into the box, in my case thru conduit, there will be some element of humidity (central Texas) and possible condensation. Will this cause any issues or longevity problems? I could pull some wires (like 40 to make future ready) to the inside and mount it in a conditioned space, but that is lots of work and expense. Is it worth it? I had a weather station a few years back that had a control board mounted outside in a weather box but again, it had a hole in the bottom for the wires to go out and connect to the temp, wind, rain, etc sensors and the box did get condensation and bugs up in it which eventually caused issues. Same concern with the train boxes. What has your experiences been? Suggestions?

Any input so I can learn from others real world experience are really welcomed.

Keep them up so they do not get submerged.
Making a truly sealed box is difficult. What you can do is to a can of coformal coating and seal the PCB. You can mask the terminals as they rarely have an issue with moisture. The conformal coating will also keep decaying bugs for causing shorts.
