Does anyone have any information on this particular PW livery? I can’t find any record of engines painted this way except for a couple images, such as this one. Mostly I’ve seen the brown & orange livery (or the newer G&W, but I like the brown and orange better!)
I believe that was one of the experimental schemes from the late 70’s, early 80’s. There were quite a few different ones. Here is 2009 freshly painted in a similar scheme back in 1982.
And a few others
Oh wow. I’ve never seen those others. Thanks, Dan!
This wiki has an all-time roster with links to many pics.

I’ve always liked the last orange and brown scheme b4 G&W but that one on RS3 161 is sharp!
Dan did you try here? it says your unit was new in 1982.

Got the above referral here
Yep. That’s where the picture came from. Built in 1982 and painted same year.
The one John posted was built in 1976 and an earlier scheme.
Thanks, Dan! I did find that wiki, but couldn’t find any other photos of the orange/white scheme. I agree with you, the orange/brown is probably my favorite.
Since info on this is hard to find, it seems, I now have to do a deep dive and write about it on my site, because that’s just what I do…
It’s actually referred to as red and white.
MLW 420 brand new
You can see the progression in the MLW units
I’m pretty sure by 1983 they had settled on the orange and brown.
Then all you need to do is start looking at ex D&H cabooses because around the RS-3 time, when they took back the railroad from PC, they had a bunch of them.
