Large Scale Central

PVRR PARROTHEAD YARD

The Yardmaster’s office is now open for business on the Pacolet Valley RR’s Parrothead Yard. This is a Korber kit. Very small, but sturdy. The entire kit is 1 base, 4 walls and 4 pieces for the roof. Since the windows and doors are molded into the walls, quite a bit of hand painting. “Glass” was yellow. Don’t know if this is because the kit is old, or what. Ralph

Looking straight up the yard lead back towards the mainline. Lettering on the Tower is too small and needs redone.

Parrothead yard from the back. No stops yet. I plan on extending these lines when I get my hands on some more track.

Nice Ralph… I like the control tower… who made that.???

Noel,
That is one of the Colorado Model Structures kits. The kit costs about $20.

Ralph, the railroad is looking great… Nice yard office & tower…

The buildings are looking good. What did you glue them with? The one plastic building on my layout is a Piko kit and I glued it with Piko’s glue. After a year it fell apart! I have several kits waiting for construction. I have a new bottle of Testor’s Plastic Cement but haven’t tried it.

The Testor's liguid plastic cement used to be good years ago. Until they removed most of the MEK. The solvent MEK works real well. But I would only work with it outdoors.

I used Homax Professional Welder on the Yardmaster’s Office. Time will tell if it holds up.
I used CA on the Tower. I built it before I ever put any track down. So it is about 2 years old.

I have another Tower that fell apart. Amazing Goop wasn’t so amazing. I repaired it using the Homax Welder.
If these fall apart, I will be building outdoors with MEK.
Ralph

This Testor’s is unopened and probably three years old so I’ll try my luck on rebuilding the Piko saloon and a couple outhouses. But I will do my work outdoors.

Looks great. I like the colors of your RR.
