Hello Railfans
On the prototype forum I asked a question about caboose whistles and got a bunch of good answers as to their use. I bought one off fleabay and set it up to toot with a compressor. I like it. Now researching real horns and steam whistles WOW the prices are up there. I found a guy that sells plans to make diesel style horns out of PVC pipe and they sound great from the videos I have seen. Building some of those is on my to do. but first what I would like to find are good plans to build a steam type whistle from PVC that sounds good using a compressor.
Does anyone out there have any experience with building a steam train whistle from PVC pipe?

There’s a whole yahoo group dedicated to it, as I recall … it’s Steam Whistles in general, but they do a lot with it; I think the guy who’s making “modern” whistles (for use on diesel locomotives) is one of the leaders.
