Pullman Bathroom

Guys;

The logic of that time was that the effluents would be spread in a very thin layer, due to the speed of an express train. Once on the ties and ballast. the sun’s UV rays would eliminate any germs. Of course, those conditions were not present at a station stop, hence the sign. Today’s chemical toilets are a much better solution - just so long as they get emptied and refreshed regularly.

The logic of that time . . .

The restored railways in the UK make extensive use of BR Mk 1 coaches, which were available cheap as BR invented the Mk2, etc. The Mk 1 toilets do flush with water, but on to the track. If the UK Health & Safety guys decide that they have to start using holding tanks, like a modern coach, the expense will kill the restored railways.

So, do you see the ties flashimg by when you flush?

On this occasion you could see the ties (sleepers)

Yikes! Alan that would be a little scary!

South DEVON Railway??, hmm…

Cliff,

Just make sure when you flush the toilet the lights go dim as that’s what it’s all about !

Rooster;

“Just make sure the lights go dim when you flush the toilet.” HMmmmmmmmmmmmm! I think under those conditions I would be looking to fire a plumber AND an electrician!

Have fun, David Meashey

Dave,

It was only a recommendation to Cliff. I have that issue here and still trying to figure out how city water makes the lights dim when I flush. However I personally enjoy it myself!

Rooster;

So sorry, thought you were joking. None of the towns I lived in when I was in Pennsylvania had such a problem. Makes me wonder whether two utility systems are somehow combining where they should not. I had an electric furnace once that would dim the lights when the heating banks surged on, but never experienced a toilet doing that. Hope somebody can fix that.

Rooster, after trying hard to figure out why that would happen, and failing, I just realized (once again) that was your whole point… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

BTW, the closest I could come to a solution was that, with each flush, you were subconsciously bemoaning your water bill. Dude, the lights aren’t dimming, you’re just squinting your eyes in pain!! The bathroom is cute!

Makes one wonder what the bathroom was like ?

The coping on the crown molding is not well drawn on that poster! It is coped and not 45ed from the poster pic. but that is how it was done back in the day in the hood!

Ah. Not mitered.

Coped was the the way to go back in the day

So the artist drew it correctly.

Actually it’s drawn (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

We learned, in school, to cope the corners.

So, a person could be gay on the Santa Fe? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)That is rather progressive for the time. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Yes indeed! And that’s the easiest way to cope. Or miter. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Or other things. Notice how all the dudes are in their 40’s-plus, and the women are all in their 20’s?

What is wrong with that? (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
