Large Scale Central

Progress

Things are starting to take shape. A little.

Well, if it were not there, old #1 would have a similar outcome.

This allows me to run trains while I build the deck and detail the real bridge. Also much easier to get in and out than its very heavy steel counterpart… and as I try to fill in the cliffs behind it, it’s easier to do with it out.

Now if I can just come up with some reasonable geology to go in there…

The Grand Canyon’s “MiniMe” counterpart? Slate Creek Canyon?

Well, it’s more like a “high line” with a bridge in the middle … more along the lines of this:

Another comparison view (Note: I’m not actually trying to model this particular bridge … just a bridge that accomplishes the same sort of thing.)

What I’m working out is how to frame the bottom part of the cliffs up to the bridge on both sides. Scenery will be nearly floor to ceiling in this area!

That’s going to be a mini spectacular Matthew! Floor to ceiling will give a great feel when you’re operating from cliffside.

How big is your space? It looks as though you have a fair amount of room for an indoor pike.

Kewl!

Richard,

See this: http://slatecreekrailway.blogspot.com/2008/07/story-so-far.html

and this: http://slatecreekrailway.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

for some basic perspective. Basically the room’s about 40x40 (though not exactly square) and has a folded loop with a sub to the yard and pier, a sub to future expansion (assuming the laundry machines end up moved upstairs) which also has the potential to go outside someday, and sidings for the crush plant, the town of Midway (working title) and the mine.

Matthew (OV)

There’s an old thread on here someplace that gives you the “around the room” tour in order, but I’m not sure how to dig it up.

Matt,

I think you are going to have a good representation. Thanks for sharing.
