Large Scale Central

Professor Bob and Dr. Bruce

The internet and Garden Railways can be a great source of learning for non-train related items. We have a need to do some plexiglass work at the marina. I was able to give my technician a basic training tutorial on building with plexiglass by having him read Bob’s article on building the EBT boxcar in the “Article” portion of this site http://largescalecentral.com/articles/view.php?id=60 and Bruce’s Box Cab Article in GR. This morning I walked into work to find a plexiglass cube sitting on a display stand on my desk. I’ll have this at York for the ECLSTS at the “Timesaver”.

Thanks guys!

Nice Cube…

Dr. eh? Cool.

The final project will be a display board custom fitted into a window to display lake levels. The cube and other items were just training aids to become familiar with and learn how to work with the plastic.

It’s fun what you can do with it when you heat it. My first “acrylic” project was a letter opener. I cut a slot the length of the handle, heated it up and stuck the end through the slot making two twisted sides. 8th grade shop.
