Have 4, original 1st production run, Aristo RS-3s. Three of them track fine, the truck wheels move slightly in and out. But one, an Erie unit, derails routinely on my tracks. I found that the wheels on that unit do NOT move laterally like the others. Tried to open the power blocks by removing the 4 visible screws, but the one end seemed to be still attached. Is there another screw(s) on those blocks I am not seeing? What could cause this to happen. Although the unit is old, it has almost never been run.
Two more screws, but one of the power pickup wires runs next to the edge of the case, and if it overheats, it will basically glue the halves together.
Is this the rigid axle or the “floppy” one?
I have a bunch of pages on the RS-3, maybe they will help:
Regards, Greg
Yep 6 screws two from one side four from the other
It is the ridged axle, should slide laterally like my other RS-3s. Thanks for the info on the screws, I found the other two on top. This means I have to drop the entire block. Wish it was designed like the USA block, where you can remove four screws on bottom and open it up with out have to drop it out.
