Problem on the 'other' forum?

Or is it just me?

Tried to log on wednesday evening - after ten minutes waiting, no log-on, just the little wheel turning telling me that it’s trying to reach the site.

Now friday morning here in yUK and it’s STILL trying to log on…even though I’ve had my PC turned off a few times since.

…sigh…

Assuming you mean MLS, not a problem for me.
Works first go every time.
Same here.

yUK Tac?

yUk. Yup.

I hafta live here, don’t mean I have to deeply love it, tho’.

Wales is ok, especially the north, but most everything east of that you can keep, especially where WE live. It’s best to go sightseeing at night - it’s more interesting that way.

tac, in deepest East Anglia

The bits of Britain I’ve been to I really enjoyed, even London, just so bloody expensive, can’t say about living there day to day. One of the benifits of being a tourist I guess.

You have to hold your tongue just right and wet one fingure.

Once you get away from areas man has ruined most places have their own individual beauty: it is just that some places are far more beautiful than others.

I am fortunate in that I live in an area that most people consider scenically beautiful; they must do as they come in droves for vacations. lol

So I guess by the end of summer you have the same love of caravans the boys on Top Gear have?

Vic,

There are more mobile home type vehicles these days than caravans. Caravans, like drunken drivers tend to be on the roads at specific times of day generally so when you have driven on UK roads for over 50 years you get to know when it is best to stay home. Many caravans are static on especially designated sites fortunately. Admittedly the Top Gear crowd do seem to search out problems whereas I look to avoid them. Proof of that is when they visited the United States and went for gas in a Hicksville place giving the impression that they were all gay and were surprised at being run out of town.

I still amazed they didnt get shot doing that particularly stupid stunt, notice they’ve never tried anything that particularly dumb since? They dont care for the RV type campers either…

It was all an act, and a poor one and agreed a stupid stunt. The alternative was when openly gay UK actor Stephen Fry was on some talk show here (Ferguson, Letterman or the like) when he toured the entire USA by car, he said he found that the south (Tennessee in particular) had some of the most friendly people he had met.

I regularly visit as a ‘guest’ and never have an issue. I believe it is the registered members (paying and non-paying) who seem to have the problems. In reality, I find myself visiting less and less as the site has gravitated to more ‘ready to run’ with less emphasis on actual modelling work, which is my interest.

Two things Garrett. I don’t believe that the episode was an act. They were very visibly shaken and if you saw the end of the programme, in particular the car transaction in New Orleans and their subsequent comments about the trip, it might be obvious that it was not so. There is a possibility, of course, that the derogatory statements that were made were not screened in the United States.

As for Fry he was most courteously accepted by all he visited in the 50 States but did not decorate his taxi as did the Top Gear guys. lol

Well, having friends that have worked in TV, you have to get a release to pretty much have anyone’s face shown, so that was the first indication.

The second were all the pandering to US stereotypes. Even the cars they bought, if you had $1000 and needed a car you could nab 15-20 year old Corollas or FWD GM A-body (Buick Century, Olds Cutlas) or J Body (Cavalier, Sunbird, etc.) that would border on being a decent car, but does not convey the “big honkin RWD US Pig-Car” view they were going for. And yes, the “Narwlins” comments were made and shown, again, not the greatest part of the world.

True to Fry’s visit. He did get to go to the body farm, I have met a few folks that have worked there via work, interesting place to say the least.
