Prize for Mik's Build Challenge 2016

Greetings All

Just stopping by to announce some prizes for this years build challenge.

Please read the whole post because anybody on LSC can win one of these prizes depending on how you participate in this years challenge.

All of these figures will be awarded by random drawing. For each category I will write the name of everybody who qualifies on a piece of paper and have Mrs. Boomer draw the winner from a hat.

The categories are:

CAT. 1 Everybody who participates in the build according to Dave’s rules. You do not have to be the best craftsman, have the best idea or get any votes. Heck you do not even have to finish as long as you make a good try. Have fun and you are in for this category.

CAT 2 Everybody who casts a vote. Yep that’s right. If you vote at the end of the challenge your name is in for this category.

CAT 3 Everybody who runs the challenge and is named Dave Taylor. This one is hard to qualify for… in fact Dave may be the only person eligible, but it is LSC and anything can happen.

So here are the prizes, Cat 1 - Allen “Mik” Bupp, Cat 2 - Bob “Benevolent Dictator” McCown and Cat 3 - Dave “President NMNRR” Taylor:

For those that are interested a build log for these figures can be found here: https://cibolalmrr.wordpress.com/miks-build-challenge/

Good luck everybody and have fun. I will be back in February to announce the winners.

WOW …that is an awful lot for a first post!

If your, you’re,you are new to the site check out my page on modeling figures. [email protected] it gives precise specifications on scale and gauge and how to tackle certain projects that may or may not work for you but this is how it’s done even if I only documented it.

EDIT : Welcome Boomer !

Welcome back Boomer!! You have been missed on here.

Those figures are excellent (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Can my napkin be made be Sketchup, I don’t know how to get a drawing from sketchup to a napkin. I draw everything in Sketchup.

I would be interested in this contest, if I can substitute sketchup for a napkin.

I know the judges may have to, break off into a special quarters, to reevaluate the rules. I am a big boy so if the judges

rule against the using of Sketchup to show a detailed drawing, then I will step aside and watch the napkin drawers use their

expertise in producing their great quality structures.

Thanks Dennis

Dennis

Your over thinking. You can use sketch up for your own build plans. Just scribble something anything that resbles what you’re doing on a napkin. It doesn’t have to be usable or pretty. Just check out john C build log you will understand

Hey there wasn’t any ketchup on my napkin!(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

That’s not my blueprint, so far just the project/title pages!

Don’t worry about it Dennis…the napkins are kind of an inside joke and tradition, not something that’s required. The first year I posted prototype photos of where I was heading and then winged it from there. Second year I eventually got around to posting architectural drawings I found of the model I was imitating. I didn’t have any kinds of drawings of my own either year, which is kind of strange since I’m an artist. But it’s okay.

This year I may need to draw something out because I can’t really find a prototype for what I have in mind; if I do I’ll skip the napkin.

That said, I’m glad you’re participating, this is definitely a case of the more the merrier.

Just feed some paper towel into the single sheet feeder on your laser printer and you should be all set (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Please don’t blame me if the paper towel jams up and ruins your printer - I was just trying to be helpful.

Boomer,

Happy to see your post. I always enjoyed your posts and topics in the past,

hope you stick around and share your wit, wisdom and talent with us in the future.

Sheesh. Talk about a day late and a dollar short… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Making figures is no small thing, as I know first hand, and offering them as prizes is very generous, Boomer. Those are good likenesses, too. Cheers!

Hey Boomer, what ya building? A Little hint? Or are ya gonna tin the Ol’ Dynamite Shack?
