Private Profiles

Bob, what is the sense of having the option to have a profile that is viewable only by “friends?” Aren’t we all friends, here?

I would like to see that option removed. Its kind of insulting irritating.

My 2 cents worth.

Irritating is the word that I was looking for. I was cranky. Sorry.

Steve

The new site options seem to follow current social media doing’s and is a general format from the way I see it.

While I don’t find it insulting, I prefer the way it used to be; all profiles viewable by all. If you don’t want something published, don’t enter it in your profile.

As it is, it’s impossible to figure out where most people are located and/or find thier photo galleries, etc.

BTW - The Viewable by Friends option doesn’t work either. Private profiles are viewable by nobody.

When I recently signed up I just selected for my profile to be viewable by all registered users, I have nothing to hide…at least I don’t think I do!

I do wish there was a way for you to have your location shown under your post count, so you wouldn’t have to guess where everyone is from.

It would make it easier to understand some of the posts, especially when extreme weather is making a mess of someone’s garden railroad.

See - Just with a quick look at your Profile Vincent I find we have something in common besides trains. I spent 10 years operating a Pro-Audio company doing sound reinforcement for bands and commercial venues. Now, 30+ years later one of the companies I work for bought a bar with a house sound system. I’m now the resident sound techie

I have been a musician since I was 12 years old (Bass player) then 5-years ago I needed to make some extra money to pay some bills so I quit playing and started renting my PA system (s) out to local bands.

It is pure weekend warrior grunge work, just working the local bar scene but it did help pay off a lot of debt that I fell into (divorce).

I have worked about 70-80 shows a year, but this year I am cutting way back. Just working with a couple of bands in the better/easier venues. This will give me more time to relax and build my new outdoor railroad this summer!

ProAudio is fun, I have learned a lot…especially everything I was doing wrong, well most of it! Hopefully someday I will return to actually playing again though, I do miss it.

Another musician. Cool.

I play the French Horn, as well as the Recorder (Blocflute).

John Le Forestier, another of the “Private Profilers” also claims to be a musician, but he plays the bag pipes, so I’m not sure about that claim.

Ill be your friend Ralph.

I have always wanted to learn how to play the banjo. I could just see it now, hanging out in my shelter and picking.

I used to play the drums and now work for a company designing racks and mounting equipment.

I too hope to get behind the kit again some day and play some Rock!

I posted something on this not to long ago, I also liked to see where everyone was from.

And I still have that Pearl Export set we talked about at York in 2012. If you ever decide you want it I’ll deliver for a few beers and laps around your RR
