Large Scale Central

Prices going up...evilbay...?

It pays to stay connected. You don’t have to waste your money on evilbay…

I just was rewarded with two Aristo SS #6 switches for $80…it’s all about making connections…yes…right here in Canada…and even here in Ottawa…

Fostering a wide fellowship can lead to rewards…sharing and having fun…I also just sold a Spectrim Mogul, that was surplus to my needs…to a guy in Virginia…through friends, his delivery is free…no postage…no UPS…

Being a lonner is not always the most smooth voyage… NO BITCHING AND COMPLAINING…

Thats great, Good buy for you. Your one in a Million…

Evilbait, Pickers, Storage Wars…all that stuff gives folks a VERY exaggerated idea of what their their trash is worth.
I see old 1940’s era sand cast 0 scale engines going for $500 when the last one I bought cost $20. I used to get calls all the time from folks trying to sell off their LGB…“How much you want?” “Exactly what it’s worth”. Give me a figure, I’ll pass or buy.
I just picked up a “collection”, locally, CHEAP, was able to pass most all of it along to locals and folks I know on-line dirt cheap
Kinda like the guy in Canada trying to sell a “super rare Yugo” for about three times what it sold for new.
Good for you, Ferd.

Stuff goes cheap on ebay too…

Once picked up a case of 4 AMS D&RGW stock cars, NIB for $185.00. An LGB Santa Fe A/B set for $450.00. There are deals, you just have to look for them.

And yes, I am kicking myself for letting the SD-45 go but I had just picked up the above mentioned diesels and a NIB Connie ($175.00). You can go broke buying bargins.

Just use the “Auction Only” tab, and forget the “Buy It Now” tab, thats where the delusional reside.

Mark: Yep, Ive been seeing 4-sets of AMS or Bachmann boxcars going cheap, too.

Vic: I use the buy-it-now on a lot of the electronic stuff I buy from China. Im amazed at how cheaply they can sell the stuff, INCLUDING shipping. 100 bi-color LEDS, with resistors, shipped to my door, for around $3. Huh?

Bob, my comment was directed spefically at the train auctions, I’m sure there are lots of other items where BIN works out well, but in things like model trains, model kits, any collectables, etc. the delusional have more or less taken over.

Problem is Vic the good deals go in minutes, you have to check often. It’s the over-blown prices you see because that’s what stays behind. A “newish” SD-45 for $95.00 BIN was a great deal…Lasted all of 5 minutes. I agree, most are asking for foolish money.
