It looks like the Rooster is REALY close to John…
Will the Red Socks win the world series before Rooster tops the list …

Yep, looks like Rooster is headed to the top, not only in post count, but thanks… boy there will be no living with the “cock of the walk” after that! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

And, what does one get for highest post count? Bigmouth of the forum award?
John Who? or Which?
forums main page bottom left… the top 10 posters, which can be change to the top 10 thanked.

Yea Greg. I still fail to see where having the most posts means anything useful. Especially when one posts empty and off topic posts, that contribute nothing to the discussion at hand.

I agree Maynard ! So keep on posting cause you are almost there in 1/2 the time it took me.

Maynard …Why not ask Jon Radder what you receive when you get there since some seem so passionate about it ?

From the sidelines, If you subtract all the “bumps”, he’d have less than you
Yes, you can post with nothing to add.
And you can be thanked for posts that are really nothing.
On the other hand, you can post helpful posts and you can be thanked for helping.
This forum is not heavily moderated… some are more moderated and “one line” posts and “bumps” are strongly discouraged and even deleted…
And, again on the other hand, there are forums that are like the wild wild west where everyone attacks each other.
So, it is what it is… personally I would put the “thanked” count as the default shown as opposed to just raw post count…
But I’m sure this thread will be “off to the races” pretty soon… it’s almost like discussing politics… or maybe we can have Fred talk about how much he likes it that Canada legalized pot. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Oh, I thought a thread named Post Counts was going to be about modeling fences.
Post count, ergo propter count
Rather than just counting posts, there should be a count for “thread starters” which tend to be a lot less than “let me get my 2 cents in too.”

i am opposed to this idea.
it takes less time to scroll passing an irrelevant post, than opening and closing a nonsense-thread.
Oh, I thought it was about a new Post Cereal - “Post Counts” and you would get a free railroad sign in each box.
Thread starters can go either way…
We had a guy on the Aristo forum who would make a new thread at the drop of the hat, even if there’s a good thread out there already, even just a few days old.
He was very intent on his presence on the forum. That forum had the name of the last poster on each thread very prominently displayed. A few of us were kind of scratching our heads since there were a ton of “me too” and smiley face “one liner” responses.
So about 4 of us got together and posted such that this guy’s name never showed on the first page of the forum, although we worked hard to actually contribute to the threads in a positive way, no one liners…
The guy went nuts and unleashed tons of posts and new threads… so I have a pretty negative experience on rewarding new threads, perhaps not fair, but there it is.
In my estimation, I post more on helping others with questions than posing new questions myself. I think the “thanks” is the most positive reflection of contribution for the benefit of all.

Best not to track anything…then NOBODY can fudge the numbers…cuz there ain’t any to fudge!
Oh, if its not in writing then it didn’t happen. That is a philosophy used in quite a few places.
The one that gets on my nerves is the OP that gets a bunch of responses to his posting and then instead of answering them all in one post answers them in individual posts when one “thanks guys” would do.
I wanted to see how you all wound respond…
It is interesting to see how some didn’t know about the list …
This site that Bob has given us is full of stuff!
Thanks for resounding all…You too Gary… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
