pondless waterfall/stream

So from a quick glance if you are correct on the GPH of your waterfall box it looks like you can easily change to a pondmaster 700gph pump.
This will use the same tubing / fittings you installed for the 350gph pump, anything larger pump wise and you will have to change out the tubing.
And at 3’ head height the 700gph pump will still provide 460gph.

this place has really good pricing on Pondmaster pumps:

Cancellation failed :frowning:

did go ahead and order the 700 though, will refuse the 550…

That should make a noticeable difference!

thanks again for the help!

I used a 3500 gph pump on my pond/waterfall. Have you really thought this out? Even at 700 gph, I think that the flow is going to be lost in the rocks that you have in the bottom of your stream.

Cale , it sounds as though they are trying to push you into buying a second hand fire pump .

Don’t let them sway your better judgement .

Mike

PS I like what you’ve done , have you thought of putting a little dye in the water ? It can enhance the effects .

The largest pump Cale could use safely with the waterfall box he has is something that produces 960gph @ 3’ head height.(that is the MAX rating on the product he installed)

Anything larger then that you will run the risk of the waterfall box over flowing over the sides.
I suggested the 700GPH pump because it will swap out easily with the tubing and fittings he already has in place.
Anything larger and Cale will have to make some changes, which may or may not be easily done at this point depending how everything was installed.

And not trying to sell Cale a fire pump, all of the information I gave Cale can be found right in the instruction manual for the waterfall box he purchased:

Mike, I’m not trying to push Cale towards anything, just giving him the benefit of my experience. With what he has built, anything less than 2000 gallons per hour is going to be swallowed up by the rocks in his stream bed, and be barely visible.

Cale, you have two choices, either up your gph, or scale back the volume of your stream. Make it narrower, with a shallower rockbed. I suspect that the second option will be the easiest.

I take it that this photo was done by putting a hose at the top of the stream?

I’d like more flow, not really looking for a roaring river though. About twice what I’m getting now would suit me.

The local pond place wanted me to go with a 250 GPH, I went bigger (350) and added a gate valve at the head (as shown prev)

I think the 700gph pump will get you where you want to be.
It will almost double the flow you have now.
And like I said, all you have to do is swap the pumps out without changing anything else.

Rock work looks great by the way!

If, by chance, Cale gets a pump that is a bit over-sized, he can restrict its outflow, or split the outflow to get what he wants. Its impossible to increase the outflow from a pump that is too small. My stream out of my marsh is narrow and not terribly deep, so a 550 GPH pump is fine for my uses. But that stream Cale has, I am not sure 550 would give much flow at all.

the spill is far wider than before

Seems to be just what I was hoping for!
