Yes, I realize they are presses. I worked for Kodak research who was a major supplier of high end presses. But I was attempting keep vocabulary where everyone would understand.

Tom, never try to “dumb things down,” for this crowd. I always end up with egg on my face when I do.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Steve,
I took it for what it was intended–an insult and the classic of this forum -one up manship. It was not even pertanent to the conversation. The point I was making was not to place too much blame on the publisher and editor of GR. The delay is generic to the printing industry. GR staff do their very best to be timely and meet expectations of their readers and advertizers.
An insult, when it was stated “no insult intended”? Oneupmanship, when just trying to clarify something for those who are not aware? I missed something there.
'Steve, yes, it can come back and bite you. But I do try and meet folks at their level, and I appreciate when they try and meet me at mine. If someone wants to throw egg on your face, lettem. If they have to do that to get a little enjoyment in their lives, they must desperately need a little enjoyment.
This thread was about Polks Generation Next. Maybe we should try and get back to that topic before things degrade any further.
Thank you, David; for taking the time to read what is written.
Since I was in the printing industry, and yes Tom, I was at several “Print and Press” seminars at Kodak in Rochester, back in the seventies…I was just trying to contribute, as David pointed out. (I had no idea of your experience in the printing industry…it is interesting to learn of people’s backgrounds)
I had no idea of your intent, Tom, as a person from the industry, but I tried to be positive and prevent misunderstanding with that statement you obviously missed…NO INSULT INTENDED… I hope that you and I can be friendly, and continue sharing in this great hobby of Model Railroading.
Now, as David suggested…let’s get back to the topic, if it hasn’t already run its course.
Fred Mills
I have a friend that sells large “printers” for Ricoh, and I know the language within the industry is very specific.
For those of us on the outside, clarification of the word “printer” helps.
When someone goes to the trouble to specifically say “no insult intended” and reading the post the comment was for clarification AND to help those of use who are NOT in the industry, I cannot see a rationalization to take it as an insult.
I re-read the entire thread 3 times to come up with this opinion.
Now, back to GeneratioNext, any news from anyone on this? No posts on facebook for 20 days.
No Facebook posts? That’s not a good sign. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
I don’t Facebook, so I have no idea in heck what I am talking about. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
When Scott took the helm of Aristo (or as we were told), he indicated he preferred Facebook to a forum. Now that he is disassociated from Aristo and Crest and his uncle Lewis, his only communication is via Facebook, he has no forum.
People on the old Aristo forum still ask about things, and Lewis’ son Jonathan eventually locks non Aristo topics.
Greg
Why would anyone in their right mind want to discuss Aristo, Generation NeXt, elgeebee or anything to do with manufacturers when the last time those came through here and elsewhere the “experts” (in their own minds anyway) screamed and hollered like an Act Up crowd. To Hades with facts…opinion matters more, right?
A lot of us knew what was going on then, even if most of it couldn’t be printed (pay no attention to the West Coast experts…remember that?) and guess what?
They all came out exactly as predicted.
Why?
Because there is a whole lot of backchatter on the subject.
Is there backchatter on Generation NeXt? You betcha.
Am I or anybody else going to say anything?
Not on your life. Even if local “experts” try to bait.
Add to all of this the very recent Kader 40% price increase…and how do YOU think it’s going to turn out?
Large Scale has shriveled up…contracted…badly in the last 5-6 years.
Aristo is gone. Not much new out of USA. Bach has little or no new stuff. I’m not talking dregs left over from two production runs ago. New.
The only good news is Simba Dickie and no more Walthers.
Just about finished re-spiking my railroad to 1.6" gauge so my 1:22.5 cars can have 3’ gauge track.
Close enough for gummint work.

“Now that he is disassociated from Aristo and Crest and his uncle Lewis, his only communication is via Facebook, he has no forum.”
He does have the same option as some retailers to post announcements on forums such as this one {and as some have done sometimes with monetary infusion !}
“People on the old Aristo forum still ask about things, and Lewis’ son Jonathan eventually locks non Aristo topics.”
Glad to see when Johnathan does have time scheduled to lock non-Aristo (LS manufacturer) topic/threads since is still declared a Aristocraft forum !!
Albeit, maybe I missed where they changed it to a wide-open forum such as here at Bobs’ LSC !?
All the best Scott !
imho

All reasonable statements Doug.
Yes, I wish he would post on some forums, but historically Aristo never posted on any forum or blog they did not own. I cannot blame them, but there is an excellent mechanism right here that Bob has created. Maybe I will entreat Scott to request a forum here, thanks for the idea!
Yes, the old Aristo forum locks non-Aristo topics, and that has been their policy. I can understand the frustration of people who bought into the Revolution, and now it is NOT an Aristo product. They really need to post on Facebook, but Facebook has the flaw of being a blog that does not have multiple threads… good posts are often lost by other posts on top.
Greg

Thanks, another good reason for me not to sign on with Face’Corp

p.s. plus (unknown to some peoples) unless certain permissions are turned off Face’Corp. (and other social network platforms) algorithums capture all your interests, and subsequently share that fact with others and ‘you’ in the future.
Similiar to most apps that peoples tend to get so excited about but ignore, that when they uploaded them onto their hardware and they just clik’d accept, they more than likely gave some faceless mainframe permission to access your entire digital storage medium and in some cases your future key strokes …
Yep it’s integrated all over, but be-a-ware

FBP. Fluff Busting Purity. Kills all the FB carp. No ads, turn off what you don’t want to see, select to block specific items and apps (ALL apps for me) oh, and Casino, Poker, Chips, all that. Did I say no ads? As in zero.
How about no ads?
Remember, no ads…
Oh, then load Ghostery…the AdBlockerPlus…
Even this site has trackers and ad bits… Google Analytics, VigLink, and OpenX, which Ghostery kills before they can load.

That was my point regarding the current price of the Bachmann Annie. The Bachmann passenger coaches are now around 80.00. The pricing of this stuff is getting to the point of killing off sales.
High end product, folks will pay high dollar.
Plastic product, folks have a ceiling as to what they will pay.
Norman
Two things, real short. Scott needs to communicate better. He needs to get at least one NEW product to market.
Norman, yes, I agree. That is why most of my latest purchases have been on the used market.
Paul, yes and yes. Even talking with Scott, he sometimes doesn’t communicate well face to face. And selling NOS is good for getting you name out and raising some cash, but he needs something new to really get some press.
Paul Burch said:

If Kader has raised prices 40%, that’s effectively going to make ordering any new Aristo products almost insurmountable. If for example if the current NOS 0-4-0/caboose combo price thru G-Next is $320.00, that increase will bring the MSRP up to $448.00! That’s almost $500 once you add shipping and possible taxes, That’s a non-starter price for what was intended to be a starter set loco.
And this 40% increase will have a tremendously negative effect across the board with every manufacturer that gets product from Kader, USA Trains will also be effected negatively. Its probably no wonder we haven’t seen anything new from them, if this increase does in fact take place we may never see anything new because that cost increase has to paid up front, cash on the barrelhead, that’s the way Kader works. Is this the intent? Drive off you competition? I don’t believe so as Kader has never done anything besides the trolley in 1/29. If they added some new items in 1/29 I could see this idea holding some water but Kader lately seems ready to drop any possible new items in large scale and even On30, save the lucrative Thomas line.
It will be interesting to see what they decide to do. With Aristo pretty much gone, USA being priced out of manufacturing, leaves a huge hole in 1/29 scale Large Scale, but the problem is we’ve been hemorrhaging users since 2008 and its only just starting to spring back ever so slightly, but access to reasonable priced track and stock has been the single largest roadblock to getting people who are interested back into the gauge. The manufacturers raised prices to cover manufacturing, but make smaller productions runs, which keeps prices high, and when the higher priced items dont sell right away and linger on the shelf, it discourages further any new production, so available stock continues to diminish. Its a bad cycle.
Small point: since Kader bought Sanda Kan years ago, Kader HAS been making 1:29 for some time. I think you forgot USA trains.
Regards, Greg
Greg; Vic did include “Charlie and son”…read his note again…
Fred
I read it twice Fred and you are correct Vic did mention USA trains two times.
