By all means, bring it along. It is no threat (ooh! I just couldn't resist that).

You would be welcome in my house. Just leave the guns, knives, vicious attack dogs, and various other penis substitutes at the door.

You are so gracious.

Why are you so afraid of a tool?

I’m not scared of the “tool” but the nervous little chihauhua that feels the need for it.

If a man came to my house with a rifle slung over his back and asked for a drink of water, I would not be afraid (though I would think it unusual and probably ask). But if he came to my door brandishing the gun, pointing it at me and keeping his trigger on the finger, I would be afraid regardless of how genuine was his request or how politely he phrased it. I would fear his intentions.

A friend of mine is a Buddhist. He told me about the concept of “bio-phobia”. It refers to many people’s fear of their food and their water. I think those who feel the need to carry deadly weapons are among that group: either paranoid or just plain scared of the world around them.
