Thanks Ric. Am I still (hopefully) in your someday plans to stop by maybe?

Sounds like a plan. Where do I sign up ?

One nice looking turntable. I remember seeing a one to one similar to yours years ago. Later RJD

Thanks, As a matter of fact I did a turntable similar to this one years ago but with a full pit and no locking mechanism, about 2003-4. It is still in service at the Coos Bay terminal on the other end of the line. I don’t know if that’s the one you are referring to?

Richard,
Great idea!! I’ve been using the rail joiners to align and supply power for my turntable. On the other side of mine, I put a run through track to prevent swan dives. I need to come up with a better solution than sliding the rail joiners. Buggers are sharp, sliced my thumb open during my open house, of course.
Hi Mark!
Haven’t heard from you in a long time. Glad to see you’re still in action.
A sliding latch such as mine could be devised using two separate narrower brass strips joined in the middle with a piece of PVC plastic to insulate the strips from one another to supply power to the turntable rails. The receiving end could be two additional brass strips soldered to their respective rails and set with a slight tapering angle to provide a kind of spring action for solid contact as the latch moved inwards. I didn’t bother with this of course since I use battery power exclusively.
This should provide a good solid mechanical alignment as well as electrical contact.
Always good to see you here Mark!
Thanks, Richard!
Those are some good ideas. I’ll have to work on that over the winter.
Sorry to bump this old thread but it has two links in the first post that no longer work. They are to parts 1 & 2. Are these in the archives somewhere? Does anyone have them saved?
Thanks and Happy Railroading.
Charley
That’s probably because they refer to the old Forum site. Bob has changed it and most likely hasn’t gotten around to fixing all the old links yet.
Looks like these are the right ones

Those both work fine for me. However I didn’t try the ones he was referring too.
Thanks for the quick replies!
It’s amazing all of the valuable information that passes through this site.

And even more amazing that our host recognizes the value of the old posts and refused to upgrade unless he could bring them all along. Thank you Bob!
Ahhh! I was lost and now I’m found…
Thanks indeed Bob.
HELP BOB! I edited the links on all three parts of the turntable post using the ones you provided but they defaulted back to the old ones that don’t work. What now?
