Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society meet at Shawns 5/1

It was a pleasure to be invited as a guest to the Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society meet at Shawn’s in Northern NJ last weekend. I only took a few pictures (just short of 250) but I did manage to find a some that highlight the equipment and scenery on the Kittatinny Mountain Railroad. First up is a first for the KMRR - Leased diesel power !!!

Then a few shots of Shawn’s incredible Climax. The rusted steel plate roof looks great in person…

I was actually surprised to that this very scenic railroad takes up a small space in the front yard…

The C.V.S.Ry.'s traveling Porter pushed it’s flat around yet another railroad…

And got ready to load some logs at Camp Kittatinny…

While strolling around the yards, I noticed this well worn caboose purchased from the Pacolet Valley RR…

The new extension at Camp Kittatinny…

The mine…

Climax and log train on the short trestle…

Shawn finally convinced me to drag the LS Shay out of the car and fire it up. We fought with the burner for about 10 minutes, but it finally lit properly and we enjoyed a nice run with Shawn at the controls while I took pictures…

The KMRR is a great railroad for pictures as there are several well detailed scenes and strategically placed view blocks. It was a pleasure to run and a blast to photograph. Thanks Shawn

Great pictures, Jon.
Shawn sure has done a wonderful job on his RR.
Nice to see your Shay underway.
Ralph

Nice. Always good to see ones RR through the eyes of another. Great pics Jon.

Neat pics, Jon…

Jon I can see why Shawn won a honorable mention in the GR contest. He’s done a splendid job of capturing that old logging road atmosphere.
Great work Shawn.

Great pictures Jon. Hard to believe three years ago my RR started out like this

Just rub it in, Speedy :D Ralph

Ralph didn’t I read on this board that Shawn works Wed to Sat? So that explains why he’s got so much done, he gets a long weekend every week.

LOL I have to admit it does help having three days off a week plus time during the day when I do late shifts. But dont forget I have a 6 year old and a 2 year old that keep be busy but a good excuse to run trains all the time. :)
