Plowing the Bluestone Southern

After a day after Christmas Blizzard on the Bluestone Southern, crews attempted to open a mainline, to continue service to it’s customers… Departing the Yards, Bluestone Snowplow Extra 412 passes the Bluefield passenger depot:

Working thru Bluefield, Snowplow Extra 412 is passing the Rock Cliff Junction tower:

After Crossing the Rock Cliff Bridge, Extra 412 is entering the southbound main:

Snowplow Extra is just getting ready to cross the Sparta Subdivision cut bridge:

Continuing it’s run, Snowplow Extra 412 is approaching the Bridge:

Just off the bridge, Extra 412 hits a wind blow area of the mainline:

Clear rails don’t last long, as Extra 412 hits the snowdrifts again:

After Plowing thru the drifts, Extra 412 hits another wind blown clear rail area… Crews get to relax a little…

Shortly, it’s back to running thru the drifts, and relaxing time is over:

Extra 412 resting in woodlawn, as the engineer is monitoring the locomotive, while the Conductor ran over to the cafe, for some hot coffee and sandwiches:

After the train crew fuels up, it’s back to Plowing for Extra 412:

Departing Woodlawn, and plowing the EVWR Main:

As a lot of the EVWR trackage is not located along a passable highway, this is where we lost sight of Snowplow Extra 412… Hopefully, we will be able to catch up to it, during the next snowstorm…

Sweet Andy. Glad to see im not the only crazy one. Cant beat snow plowing.

I see the BS had to borrow a plow from one of the Yankee roads
Ralph

Some times you got to do what you got to do even if borrowing. Later RJD

Shawn??? It was too cold for me… Jane did all the driving and picture taking…

Ralph… It was purchased second hand, just hasn’t made the paint shop yet…

Nice pictures Jane  Thanks for posting Andy !

Nice “flurry” plowing Dad!

You disappointed me Andy. Tell Jane she did a great job plowing.

Not Yankee, Ralph, Western. :D

Holy smokes! the crew must have been beat after all that work.
Nice pics, thanks for sharing.,

Terry

Thanks for posting those pics, Andy. At least you have a plow! I’m stuck for the winter.

Looks good Andy. You could heat your caboose and run the controls from there.

Great pictures. Snow started falling today so the LLCo. Climax brought out the plow just in case

Nice pics, Jane and Andy. 28 miles certainly makes a difference, we had dry ground until this afternoon about 1500. So far, just a dusting.

After a forecast yesterday of ““scattered Light freezing drizzle””, it all ended with an additional 6 inches of fresh snow… Plowing has been halted, and considerations are being made for a ““Snowblower””… Hilltop Sub Division Bridge:

This storm was wet and heavy snow… Trees are all covered in snow… Looks beautiful, before it gets all trampled and dirtied up…

Just remember, the yellow snow is NOT lemon flavored…
