Plowing Snow

The last few years I’ve adopted Ken’s philosophy that snow is best enjoyed through a window near the wood (or gas) stove. I think my attempt in 2017 that resulted in the death of a crew member may have influenced my decision…

Then I picked up a second C-19 and with RailPro triple heading with the diesel working like a champ I thought I might have a shot at getting up the hill again. The last steam attempt, also in 2017, only made it to Wall, the start of the curving 4%, before loosing traction…

Of course, the storm that is here now will drop around 80 scale feet of snow, so I think there is little chance of plowing this one.

It’s a lot more fun to wait for Shawn to venture out in a blizzard to video and fire up one of his engines.

Too sticky to plow … My 1:1 snow blowers are having trouble …

I m going out now to give it a try…steam powered! I’ll report back.

It’s really light and fluffy here. Blowing around like crazy. Hard to say with drifts, but it looks like about 10" where it’s not drifted.

I’m all for Ken’s philosophy: snow is best enjoyed through a window near the wood (or gas) stove, but central heat works just as well.

My Dad used to say, and Im in total agreement with him, “Snow is best on Christmas Cards and other peoples vacation pictures.”

Ill take a palm tree over a pine tree any day.

I’m taking this back. I just came in from shoveling the front walk. Much wetter and heavier than I expected. Updating to about 14" where it’s not drifted. Marilyn hired a neighbor kid to dig out the driveway and around the cars. Just hope he shows (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

11 or 12 here so far, still coming down hard. Friend in Goshen NH is reporting 33" in his yard so far.

That’s why I live in SW Florida. Enjoy the snow, you guys!

Right after the words came out of my mouth, I knew it was a bad idea to dare Mother Nature to show me what 12" really is to prove I was lying. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

12 or more inches on the ground now, light and fluffy but cold and windy.

I did try a plow train without successs, too much snow and too cold to build up steam.

Eric,

The train has to get to the next town over !!!

For crying out loud man “Think about the children and the families that rely on her life line”!

You must GO BACK OUT AND TRY AGAIN!

Precisely why I settled here after sailing for the Grey Funnel Line! Stay safe, everyone!

Hi guys,

I have had to plow four times so far this winter, the first time way back in early September! Here’s my Russell plow on a recent outing:

Cheers,

Matt

It’s not winter until Dec.21st! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
