Please help out a new old guy?

What is MIK?
I cant figure out how this forum archives subjects

MIK was a member of this forum.
he initiated a friendly anual modeling competition.
this competition is for over a decade one of the highlights of this forum.
even before his death, this competition was named after him - and is still “the MIK”
in a week, or so, you will learn more about the MIK - because it starts in early january till mid february.

If you are a builder , kit bashers or want to join in the fun , start getting your building supplies gathered up because there is a $30 dollar limit to what you can buy to build whatever is the theme of the year , which we never know until Dave Taylor tells us.
It was started as a way to clear out your scrap and parts box, drawer, pile, room! The prize is a printable award and all the adulations of the group.

Richard, I’m not sure what that means on this forum. There are old threads and photos that got lost in the last software update, but apart from that, everything from the past 5+ years is accessible, I think.

The MIK is described and has many, many posts right here:

This is the modeling highlight of the year, as it pits multiple styles and techniques against one another in a friendly, theme- and budget-constrained competition. Master modelers, part time dabblers, and rookies all come together in one place to show the incredible - and sometimes wacky - breadth of this hobby in models that encompass fine scale, proto-fantasy, and 1:24-ish PLAYMOBIL scale! To boot, since styrene benders, woodcutters, 3D print masters, tin-snippers, and more are all represented, it is a one-stop shop for weighing tool purchases and future modeling approaches.

There is only one thing for you to do…sign on!

Richard;

Because the name is all in caps, It seems to resemble an acronym. It actually was the man’s nickname.

The really confusing thing about acronyms is that the same acronym may vary from industry to industry. My last job before retirement was with Allstate Insurance. I kept seeing references to ENDT in emails and other correspondence. Finally, I asked a coworker what that acronym meant. His response was that it meant “endorsement.” “Well” I said, “when I worked for Mack Trucks it stood for engine diesel/turbocharged!”

Easy to see how MIK could cause confusion.
