Plasti-kote, ( fast dry enamel)

I was in Wally World yesterday and saw this product ‘plasti-kote’ fast dry enamel.
Say’s it’s for children’s toys & furniture. suitable for most plastics, interior & exterior use.
Has anyone tried this stuff? Results?

I’ve got a bit of rolling stock to repaint, some not not easy to disassemble.
I don’t want to use spray cans & don’t have an airbrush,
so I’m going to do it the old fashioned way, with paint brushes…

Wondering if the plasti-kote will do?

Dave…

I have used Plast-Coat auto primer for years and it is THE best primer I have ever used! As for their regular “paint” line, I do not know. I will have to try it. I used their gray primer on all of my patterns for years and as a mould release agent. Only good things to report.

I tried the stuff…
It covered good as long as it was applied in a thin coat.
Where I got it thick, it showed the brush & flow lines.
I used the flat black to paint the deck & pilots for one of my HLW Mack’s.
Used Krylon Green for the cab & hoods. (repainting the USMC Mack’s)
I’m happy with the look it gave… Old-timey, reminded me of the tar-paint
that I used to paint a metal storage tank with many years ago.
Going to try painting one of the mini-tank car tanks with it next.
(they’re still $5.00 at HLW)
Now to wait for the Texas summer heat to see if it will hold up
or bubble and flake off.

Dave…

Good to know. I’m always looking for new paints, particularly ruddy red/brown primers, for various shades of boxcars. I’ll have to go check the line out…
